Jazz Workshop offers a range of school holiday workshops in jazz improvisation for students at all levels. The workshops are held in our outstanding venue in St Leonards, five minutes walk from the station. Of course, every workshop is led by one of our first class faculty of teachers, including some of the biggest names in Australian jazz education.

Courses for beginners, with little or no experience in improvising, plus more advanced courses for experienced students. Whatever your level, let Jazz Workshop help you develop your voice a soloist.

Jazz for kids in Years 3 - 6

A school holiday workshop just for primary school kids, in Years Three to Six (ages 8 to 12). All instruments welcome - including strings!

Introduction to Jazz Improvisation

September 27 - 29. Presented by Saul Richardson.

Our most popular course - practical, intensive, and great fun! Learn fundamental jazz improvisation techniques to get you playing and sounding good from the start. In a friendly and supportive small group.

• When: Monday September 27 to Wednesday September 29,
  9:30am - 2:30pm daily.
  Supervision available from 8:30am.

This course is for beginning and less experienced improvisers ages 10 to 17. Note that these courses are NOT suitable for beginner musicians. At least two years experience, or equivalent, on an instrument is a minimum.

Advancing with Jazz Improvisation

September 30. Presented by Saul Richardson.

A one - day workshop for intermediate level musicians, the next steps in improvisation. For all instruments.

For proficient players who have already completed our introductory course, or similar, this workshop gives you the practical tools you need to reach the next level. Performance-based, in a small group setting. Work with an experienced teacher through an intensive but fun program.

Highlights include: Playing through chord changes, practical chord/scale theory, essentials of rhythm and style. Learn how to sound like a real jazz player through a proven, effective and fun method.
