Jazz Camp 2012 is a five-day residential program for students ages 11 to 19. For over thirty years it has been Australa's premier annual gathering of talented and motivated young jazz musicians. The program caters for instrumentalists (including string players) and singers at all levels of experience from beginner to advanced to emerging professionals.

Students younger than 11 Years can attend provided they are mature enough to cope with the schedule and play their instruments well enough. Call us if not certain.

Alumni of Jazz Camp include a who's who of top Australian jazz artists.

We suggest students have at least two to three years experience on their instrument or around grade 3 - 4 level to get the most out of Jazz Camp. The camp is suitable for any instrument, including singers and string players.

Musicians are carefully placed in groups appropriate to their level of playing and improvising experience.

The venue is the beautiful, peaceful and newly upgraded Naamaroo conference centre in Chatswood West on Sydney's lower north shore. It is conveniently located just minutes by road from the Sydney CBD, and within thirty minutes by taxi from the airport. Jazz Workshop Australia is proud to present this special annual camp.

Teaching Faculty

We bring together a world-class team of expert tutors, with internationally acclaimed drummer and educator John Morrison as musical director and patron. JWA principal Saul Richardson is the administrator and program coordinator. For any student serious about learning to play jazz, achieving new heights of excellence, and having a great time, then Jazz Camp is the place.

Vocalists work intensively with Jacki Cooper through a specially designed program. More advanced vocalists have the opportunity to learn improvisation techniques and to work with a small jazz ensemble.
